La Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. ha nominato la Meridian Aviation Ltd., con base all'aeroporto di Bournemouth, nuovo Pilatus Center per il Regno Unito e l'Irlanda, comprese le Isole del Canale e l'isola di Man. La Meridian Aviation ha appena venduto alla HPM Investments, per 3,5 milioni di dollari, un turboelica Pilatus PC-12 in configurazione executive a sei posti, ed un secondo esemplare è in consegna per il prossimo gennaio. L'azienda britannica, già maggiore distributore della New Piper Aircraft in Europa, conta di espandere la propria attività che oggi dà lavoro a 45 persone tra settore commerciale, amministrativo e tecnico.
Bob Berry, direttore vendite della Meridian Aviation, ha affermato che proporre il PC-12 come prodotto complementare al vertice della gamma Piper è una formula già felicemente sperimentata negli USA. "E' chiaro che il Pilatus PC-12 può rappresentare il logico passo successivo al Piper PA-46 Meridian. Il nostro personale tecnico ha una esperienza decennale nell'assistenza tecnica per motori a turbina, per cui assumere la rappresentanza del PC-12 è stata una scelta naturale."
Il PC-12 offre il comfort degli aerei executive a reazione con un costo assai inferiore. Il suo raggio d'azione è di 2.260 miglia marine a 270 nodi di crociera ad alta quota. Anche per questo motivo Harry Dodd, l'imprenditore inglese che gestisce varie attività tramite la HPM Investments Ltd., ha scelto il PC-12. Sia Harry che suo figlio Marcus sono brevettati ed hanno utilizzato una serie di aerei Piper dal 1986 in avanti. Il PC-12, venduto in oltre 370 esempari in tutto il mondo dal 1994, è una combinazione ad alta tecnologia tra un piccolo aereo di linea ed un executive. Il suo aspetto elegante nasconde le robuste doti di un aereo in grado di svolgere vari tipi di missione in campo militare, grazie anche alle caratteristiche di decollo ed atterraggio corti che consentono l'utilizzo di aeroporti minori.

Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. has appointed Meridian Aviation Ltd., based at Bournemouth International Airport as a new Pilatus Center for U.K. and Ireland, including the Channel Island and the Isle of Man. Meridian Aviation Ltd. has already sold one Pilatus PC-12 aircraft for US$ 3.5 million in an six seat executive configuration and has a second aircraft ordered for January 2003. The British firm plans to expand the operation that currently employs over 45 sales, administration and engineering personnel and has kept it's lead as the top selling New Piper Aircraft distributorship in Europe.
Bob Berry, Sales Director at Meridian Aviation says, that the PC-12 distributorship on top of the successful Piper contract is a proven formula seen in the USA. "We know that the Pilatus PC-12 is the logical step up from the Piper PA-46 Meridian. As our engineering personnel have over 10 years experience on turbine engine maintenance, we were the natural choice to market and support the Pilatus PC-12."
The PC-12 offers executive jet comfort at a fraction of the running cost's. It's 2,260 nautical mile range and 270 knots cruising speed at airliner altitudes appealed to Harry Dodd and his family run property, motor racing and aviation consultancy - HPM Investments Ltd. Harry and his son Marcus, both hold pilot licenses and have owned a succession of Piper aircraft since 1986. Although the PC-12 is now a combination of high tech airliner and business jet, its sleek looks belie it's solid build for multi-role military operations. It has a short take-off and landing run, allowing operators to use smaller airfields. Since it's introduction in 1994, more than 370 PC-12's have been sold world-wide.
