"Giornata dell'Ala" Report

On May 24th, at the Pratica di Mare air base, the "Giornata dell'Ala" (Day of the wing) air show celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the Italian Air Force.

Almost complete the presence of the aircraft types used by the IAF, the Italian Navy, Army and the various Italian military corps and state agencies.

Many other aircraft, from foreign air forces, were present both in the flying and static displays, with the exception of the Turkish Air Force and of some Eastern European countries.

Two new aircraft made their unexpected Italian debut: the Lockheed-Martin C-130J, which recently took part in the promotional "World Tour 1998", and the prototype of the 36 seat Fairchild Dornier 328JET regional airliner which made its first flight in January, this year.
