North West Service, the latest Italian helicopter operator (www.nwservice.it), has recently organized the official presentation of its new Robinson R44 Raven four-seater, at the Biella/Cerrione airport (North West Italy). Set up in Turin in December 2001, North West Service obtained air-work and flight scool licences at the beginning of 2003. During 2002 they lent a first Robinson R22 to Rotorino Eliclub, a Turin based private organization.
At the moment the operator is active in air-photography, aerial survey and training operations. The main base is located at the Turin/Aeritalia airport, where third-party maintenance is also performed. After agreements with the Aero Clubs of Biella and Cuneo, regular courses for Private Pilot Licence for Helicopter are offered in both airfields. At the moment 15 students are taking parts to the NWS training courses, and four of them are close to the flight examination phase.
Before the end of 2004, the fleet of North West Service will be formed by two R22s (I-FLYR and I-HEFA), the R44( G-EPPO) and a Bredanardi NH-300C. Before to expand its capability with larger helicopters, the company plans to obtain from ENAC (the Italian Aviation Authority) the passenger transport licence.
