Agusta Aerospace Corporation, an AgustaWestland company, is pleased to announce that Seacor Holdings Inc., an international provider of marine transportation services to the offshore oil and gas industry and parent of Tex-Air Helicopters, has placed an order for three Agusta Grand intermediate size helicopters, so becoming the launch customer in its sector in the United States.
The Agusta Grand, unveiled at the recent Farnborough air show in UK, is a new top-of-the-range light twin turbine helicopter developed from the A 109E to meet diversified market demand and providing levels of cabin space and payload that until now could only be met by larger more expensive helicopters.
The Grand has a Maximum Take-Off Weight of 3,175 Kg. (7,000 lb). The combination of the new generation Pratt & Whitney PW207C turbo shaft engines with electronic control (FADEC) and an uprated transmission ensure outstanding performance, in both hovering and forward flight, including Full Class 1 operation. More than twenty Agusta Grand have been ordered worldwide in less than two months since the model's first unveiling. The deliveries of the new helicopter will start in 2005.
