Il 12 novembre 2000, a Burns Flat in Oklahoma, ha preso il volo per la prima volta il prototipo dell'anfibio SeaStar Adventurer. Dopo alcuni rullaggi ad alta velocità, per verificare le caratteristiche aerodinamiche, il pilota collaudatore ha effettuato una rotazione già a 40 nodi ed un facile decollo a 60.
Il primo volo dell'Adventurer corona 23 mesi di lavoro di ricerca e sviluppo da parte del SeaStar Aircraft per realizzare il nuovo velivolo. La SeaStar, che produce da anni il LakeStar con motore turbocompresso Lycoming da 350 hp, con velocità di crociera di 200 miglia all'ora, mette ora sul mercato un anfibio innovativo e versatile, dotato di una turbina da 657 hp, in grado di trasportare sei persone a 270 nodi su distanze superiori alle 1.000 miglia nautiche. Con i serbatoi supplementari possono essere raggiunte anche le 1.200 miglia nautiche di autonomia.
Rispetto ad anfibi più tradizionali, l'Adventurer raggiunge i 25.000 piedi di quota, ben oltre le principali perturbazioni atmosferiche.

November 12, 2000 the SeaStar Adventurer amphibian prototype took to the air for the first time in Burns Flat Oklahoma. After high speed taxi tests to ascertain flight control characteristics, the SeaStar test pilot established that the aircraft had excellent elevator authority and rudder effectiveness. During the subsequent test, the pilot rotated the nose at 40 knots and the aircraft lifted effortlessly off the runway at 60 knots.
The first flight of the Adventurer, powered by a 657 hp turbine engine was the crowning achievement of 23 months of research and development activity by SeaStar Aircraft, till now producing their 200+ mph. cruise speed LakeStar model, with 350 hp turbocharged Lycoming engine.
The new Adventurer model will carry 6 people at cruising speeds of over 270 mph for distances greater than 1000 miles in cabin class comfort at altitudes of 25,000 feet, well clear of most bad weather conditions.
