Nello scorso dicembre 2006, la SOREM (Gruppo Aeroservices) si è aggiudicata, per la seconda volta, la gara d'appalto per la gestione degli aerei antincendio della Protezione Civile. Il nuovo contratto ha la durata di nove anni, dal 22 gennaio 2006 al 21 gennaio 2015. La società abruzzese gestisce da oltre 8 anni la flotta antincendio della Protezione Civile italiana, che attualmente conta sedici Bombardier 415 turboelica. Dispone inoltre di sei Canadair CL-215, la versione precedente con motori a pistoni, utilizzati soprattutto per campagne antincendio all’estero (Portogallo e Turchia).
Il presidente della SOREM, Giuseppe Spadaccini, rende ufficiale la vittoria nella gara d'appalto, indetta dalla municipalità di Istanbul per il biennio 2007-2008, per la fornitura di tre Canadair CL-215 e relativo personale, per il servizio antincendio e per il pattugliamento antinquinamento dell’area dello stretto del Bosforo. L'accordo avrà decorrenza, per il 2007, da maggio ad ottobre, con possibilità di prolungamento al mese di novembre. I tre anfibi saranno basati su un aeroporto minore in prossimità dell'Istanbul-Ataturk International Airport (Yesilköy). Il 24 maggio 2006 i mezzi della SOREM hanno contribuito allo spegnimento dell’incendio che aveva colpito l’aeroporto Ataturk.
Dal 1° gennaio al 12 dicembre 2006, la flotta di Bombardier 415 gestiti dalla SOREM ha effettuato 4.189 ore di volo, 2.649 delle quali in attività operativa, con 18.100 sganci di liquido estinguente (miscela di acqua e schiuma) per un totale di 111.500.000 litri. Sono state svolte 1.198 missioni di volo contro 774 incendi gravi. Nella sola stagione estiva (12 giugno-12 ottobre) sono state effettuate 2.847 ore di volo, 2.649 delle quali operative. Nello stesso periodo sono state totalizzate 1.016 missioni e 13.638 sganci (981.888.000 litri) contro 625 incendi. L’attività di tutti i mezzi aerei antincendio italiani, ad ogni livello, ricade sotto il controllo operativo del Dipatimento Protezione Civile, tramite il COAU (Centro Operativo Aereo Unificato).
Negli anni passati la SOREM, nell’ambito di alcune missioni speciali di protezione civile, è intervenuta con Bombardier 415 in Albania, durante la guerra del Kosovo, in Sicilia, per un'eruzione dell'Etna, e nello Sri Lanka, dopo lo tzunami del 2005.

In December 2006, SOREM (Aeroservices Group) was awarded, for the second time, the contract to operate firefighters aircraft of the Italian Civil Protection Department (DPC). The new agreement covers nine years, from January 22, 2007, to January 21, 2015. The Italian air operator began this activity nine years ago, and now it operates sixteen Bombardier 415 turboprop aircraft. The company also owns six Canadair CL-215 amphibians, the piston-engined forerunner of Bombardier 415, for their firefighting activity abroad (Portugal and Turkey).
Giuseppe Spadaccini, President of SOREM, announced recently the renewal of a contract to protect - with six Canadair CL-215s and related personnel - the area surrounding Istambul. The activity will be performed in 2007 and 2008, from May to October every year, with extension to the end of November, if necessary. The three aircraft will be based in a secondary airport near the Istanbul-Ataturk International Airport (Yesilköy). On May 24, 2006, the SOREM aircraft helped to counter the fire menacing the Ataturk airport.
From January 1 to December 12, 2006, the Bombardier 415 aircraft operated by SOREM recorded 4,189 flying hours, including 2,649 in action. In the past years SOREM performed some civil protection special missions with their Bombardier 415 aircraft: in Albania, during the Kosovo war, in Sicily, in occasion of an eruption of Etna volcano, and in Sri Lanka, after the tzunami occurred in 2005.
