US Air becomes US Airways

Effective from 27 February 1997, US Air, one of the largest domestic and international carrier, was renamed US Airways and adopted a new corporate logo.
The origins of the new US Airways dates back to 5 March 1937, when All American Aviation was established to provide air mail services between 58 towns in US central-eastern states. The Stinson Reliants of AAA were equipped with special devices to pick-up and deliver mail sacks in small villages without airfields.
In 1949, the airline began scheduled passenger services and, in 1951, it became. In 1968 and in 1972, Lake Central Airlines and Mohawk Airlines were incorporated respectively. In 1979 the company was renamed as US Air; in 1979 merged with Piedmont Airlines in 1988 and with Pacific Southwest Airlines in 1989.
