F.8L Falco 50th Anniversary

On May 29, 2005, “Falco Club” - the Italian association formed by the owners of the legendary F.8L Falco - organized a fly-in of at the “F. Cappa” Casale Monferrato airport, North-West Italy. The gathering was also an occasion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Stelio Frati’s masterpiece first flight (June 15, 1955).
Nine surviving F.8L two-seater sport aircraft took part to the event: I-ANER, I-CIRE, I-EMME, I-GEOR, I-MAMY, I-PUCK, I-SALE, I-TINI and I-VINC, which performed exciting low-level fly passes over the small airfield.
The Falco Club, set up in 1978 as “Gruppo Falchi Italia”, is actually headed by enthusiast senior pilot Sandro Rosati. The association includes the owners of other types of aircraft designed by Frati, including the kit version of the Falco produced by Sequoia Aircraft, from 1982, in the U.S.A. Three of these Frati-heritage aircraft were present at the Casale Monferrato meeting: the third built and last surviving General Avia F.20 Pegaso twin-engine aircraft, the only manufactured Aviamilano F.14 Nibbio and a popular Siai Marchetti SF.260.
