Durante l'anno appena concluso, la brasiliana Embraer ha consegnato 204 aerei destinati al mercato commerciale, executive, militare e governativo. Per il secondo anno di seguito, la società ha ottenuto un nuovo record di consegne, con il 20% in più di aerei rispetto ai 169 del 2007. L'ultimo trimestre 2008 ha anche visto le consegne dei primi due executive entry-level Phenom 100.
Al 31 dicembre 2008, il valore del portafoglio di ordini fermi ha raggiunto i 20,9 miliardi di dollari. Durante il 2008, Embraer ha consegnato 162 E-Jet agli operatori commerciali, 33 Legacy 600, due Phenom 100, un ERJ-175 da trasporto VIP ed altri sei velivoli al settore militare/governativo.
Nel corso degli ultimi tre mesi del 2008, Embraer ha aumentato il numero dei clienti con ordini fermi per aerei regionali della famiglia ERJ-170/190 con la vendita di undici E-Jet (sei ERJ-170 e cinque ERJ-190) alla British Airways.
Il costruttore ha consegnato il primo ERJ-190 all'olandese KLM Cityhopper, ed alcuni ERJ-195 alla Azul Linhas Aéreas, il primo vettore brasiliano ad introdurre in servizio gli E-Jet. Regional - Compagnie Aérienne Européene, una sussidiaria dell'Air France, ha ricevuto il 500° E-Jet costruito.
Con gli ultimi ordini ricevuti, la famiglia di executive Phenom ha superato gli 850 ordini fermi. Il Phenom 100 ha ricevuto la certificazione del tipo dalla brasiliana ANAC (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil) e dall'FAA (U.S. Federal Aviation Administration). Verso la fine dell'anno, il Lineage 1000, business jet di fascia alta, ha ricevuto il "Type Certificate" dall'ANAC e dall'EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency), ed il "Supplemental Type Certificate" (STC) dall'FAA.
Per quanto riguarda il segmento Militare/Governativo, Embraer ha firmato un importante contratto per nuovi addestratori Super Tucano con la Repubblica Dominicana ed ha venduto un aereo da trasporto VIP all'Esercito Reale Tailandese. A dicembre è anche stato firmato un contratto integrativo per l'aggiornamento degli A-1M (AMX) della FAB (Força Aérea Brasileira).

Embraer delivered 204 jets to the Commercial, Executive, and Defense and Government aviation segments during 2008. For the second consecutive year, the Company set a new aircraft delivery record, delivering 20% more airplanes than in 2007 (169 jets). The last quarter of 2008 was also marked by the delivery of the first two Phenom 100 entry-level executive jets.
On December 31, 2008, the value of the firm order backlog came to US$ 20.9 billion. During 2008, Embraer delivered 162 E-Jets to Commercial Aviation, 33 Legacy 600s, two Phenom 100s, one ERJ-175 to Executive Aviation and six jets to the Defense and Government segment.
During the last quarter of 2008, Embraer increased the number of customers with firm orders for jets from the ERJ-170/190 family with the sale of 11 E-Jets (six ERJ-170s and five ERJ-190s) to British Airways.
The Company delivered the first ERJ-190s to Holland’s KLM Cityhopper, and ERJ-195s to Azul Linhas Aéreas, which is the first Brazilian airline to operate an E-Jet. Regional - Compagnie Aérienne Européene, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air France, received the 500th E-Jet.
The new sales of the Phenom executive jets family increased the number of firm contracts to over 850 aircraft. The Phenom 100 jet received the Type Certificate (TC) from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil – ANAC) and from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The ultra-large Lineage 1000 received, at the end of year, the Type Certificate from ANAC and from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the FAA.
In the Defense and Government segment, Embraer signed another important contract for the Super Tucano trainer in Latin America with the Dominican Republic, besides the sale of one aircraft for transporting government officials in Asia to the Royal Thai Army. The Company signed a contract amendment with the Brazilian Air Force (Força Aérea Brasileira – FAB) for the A-1M program of AMX modernization, in December.
