Open Day at Turin/Aeritalia airport

On Saturday May 24 an Open Day organized by the Aero Club Torino was held at the Turin/Aeritalia airport. Contrary to similar previous events, the exhibition area was reduced, with only brief advance notice, to the North side of the airport. Thus the aircraft on the static display were rather close to those taxiing in and out. Aircraft of the local aero clubs were offering short free air rides. An AB 412SP of 1st Nucleo Elicotteri Carabinieri, an AB 412SP of Reparto Volo Piemonte Vigili del Fuoco and an Observer 2 of 2nd Reparto Volo Polizia di Stato were also on static display.
During the Open Day half a dozen aircraft made a short visit to the Aeritalia airport. Among them was an imposing Antonov An-2 biplane which flew in from Annemasse (France) and a rare Robin R 3000/160 from Geneva.
Undoubtedly the public response was much larger than expected. Many children formed long lines to get on board life-sized winged toys.

The historic Soviet-era biplane began its career in 1972 coded 3760 in the ranks of the Polish Air Force. In 1987, marked SP-ANV, it was transferred to the Aeroklub PRL and in 2005 to the Aeroklub Warzava. In 2008 it was exported to Switzerland and today is based at La Côte airport. (Aeromedia)
