Flying over the Vuelta from Turin/Aeritalia airport

The 80th edition of the "Vuelta a España" bike race departed from Venaria Reale on August 23, 2025. Almost all the aircraft involved in the aerial coverage of the event were based at Turin/Aeritalia airport during the period 21-26 August. Two helicopters equipped with video equipment provided the coverage on behalf of RTVE (Radio y Televisión Española). A Piper Meridian and a Beechcraft King Air supported this activity. The first helicopter was the Eurocopter AS 355N Ecureuil 2 EC-KPQ operated by Sky Helicópteros and fitted with a pole-mounted Cineflex V14 HD camera system. The second was the Aérospatiale AS 355F1 Twin Star EC-OKE operated by BG Helicopters with the same type of camera and the broadcasting control panel installed in the rear cabin area. The Ecureuil 2 EC-KPQ was previously at Aeritalia in May 2022 for the filming the scenes of the Fast and Furious 10 movie which took place in downtown Turin. Despite the fact that the first four stages of the Vuelta took place in Piedmont, the national television channel (RAI), did not acquired the transmission rights. To see live the race, from Saturday August 23 to Sunday September 14, it was necessary to tune in to one of the pay TV channels.
